New Lenox IL
There are plenty of things to love about the city of New Lenox, Illinois. New Lenox is a great place to call home, from its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere to its abundance of recreational opportunities and top-notch schools.
One thing that makes New Lenox so special is its commitment to preserving its history while also embracing progress. The city has historic landmarks, including the New Lenox Depot, the Old Plank Road Trailhead Park, and the Abraham Lincoln Log Cabin Museum. But it's also home to several modern amenities, including two hospitals, an ice rink, and a casino.
New Lenox is also known for its strong community spirit. Residents come together to celebrate holidays, hold fundraisers for various causes, and participate in community activities. Many older residents of the city remember when the town used to host an annual carnival along Route 66, which is now known as Archer Avenue. The festival was shut down some time ago but has remained a point of pride for many of New Lenox's older citizens.
It seems fitting that one of New Lenox's most popular celebrations is its annual Lincoln Days festival. On the third weekend in September each year, the festival kicks off with a 5k run followed by family-friendly events throughout the following weekend. The festivities are capped off with a grand parade featuring floats from local businesses, dance troupe, marching bands, classic cars, and more.
New Lenox is also known for its award-winning schools. The New Lenox School District 122 consistently ranks among the top in Illinois, boasting some of the highest test scores in the region. What's more, it has one of the best high schools in Illinois, with Lincoln-Way East High School.
